Meet Nitin Shukla – The Man Turning Waste into Life
In the quiet corners of Crossing Republic, Ghaziabad in the Uttar Pradesh in India, something inspiring is blooming. Every morning at 5 AM, Nitin Shukla, Head of Deliveries for RPA and BI Projects at ESS, begins his day not with e-mails or meetings—but with his 100+ beloved plants spread across his four balconies. From tall Ashoka and Bael trees to graceful bamboo shoots, each plant tells a story of care, love, and one man’s dedication to a greener world.
But this is more than just gardening. For the past 10 years, Nitin has been creating around 50 kg of organic manure every year—all from his own Kitchen and Puja offerings. It all started 10 years back, with just one plant and an idea: Why spend on chemical fertilizers when kitchen waste can nourish plants naturally? Every day, he composts 2–3 kg of waste using vermicomposting and in-vessel methods. Over time, he even began decomposing pooja offerings and broken statues, turning waste into nourishment and protecting the environment. His plants? Strong, healthy, and resilient—even surviving without water for days thanks to his homemade compost. Proper composting of the organic waste we generate daily(unused food or food waste) can help the environment by improving the soil fertility and reduce the use of chemical fertilizers.
For Nitin, it’s no longer just a practice—it’s a habit. His kids help him segregate waste and even enjoy swapping buckets. He says: “If each of us starts composting at home, we save money, grow healthier plants, and protect our environment—all at once.” To him, every small action matters. Every peel, every flower, every bit of waste we divert from the trash makes a difference.
And beyond gardening, he loves spending time with his furry and finned friends—his dog, fishes, and turtle. Nitin is proof that change doesn't need big steps—it just needs consistent, thoughtful ones. His journey is a reminder: nature gives us so much, and it’s time we give back so that our next generations have a cleaner future.
Lalit Rides His Way to a Cleaner Tomorrow
We would like you to meet Mr Lalit Kumar, our eco-conscious champion who pedals 42km for work every day proving how small contributions can make a big impact to the environment. What started as a practical solution to avoid traffic jams has transformed into a lifestyle choice that promotes health, reduces carbon footprint and raises environmental awareness. Lalit is a part of the RPA Delivery team at ESS.
It has been three years since Lalit swapped his usual commute for an electronic cycle. The maddening traffic and the crowded metros had been taking a toll on his physical health. But everything changed the moment he started cycling. His daily rides have not only brought him closer to nature and spirituality but have also contributed to a cleaner environment. He realized that while sitting in a car, he was missing out on the sights, sounds, and peaceful moments that cycling provides.
Beyond cycling, he enjoys playing chess and cricket, finding joy in both strategic thinking and active sports. He hails from Delhi and his passion for staying active extends beyond his commute, reinforcing his dedication to a balanced and healthy lifestyle. We’re incredibly proud to have Lalit as a part of our team, driving positive change in the world around us. His efforts serve as an inspiring reminder that every little action counts when it comes to creating a sustainable future.
For people interested in Carbon Footprint numbers, he is reducing CO2 emissions every year by a massive 2 tons.
